JavaScript object notation (JSON) is a lightweight, text-based data interchange format designed for easy human-readable data exchange between web browsers and servers. JSON is based on a subset of the JavaScript programming language. It uses a simple, easy-to-read syntax for representing data objects and arrays.

We use JSON widely for data transmission between client and server. Various programming languages and frameworks support JSON. We often use JSON in application programming interfaces (APIs), web services, and NoSQL databases to transfer data efficiently. It is a popular alternative to extended meta language (XML) because it is simpler, lightweight, and easier to parse.

In naming standards templates, you can define standards for the character case, and add prefixes and suffixes to make the object types more easily recognizable. The naming standards templates comprise an abbreviation list used to convert automatically logical to physical names and vice versa. They also comprise options for a specified model that defines case standards by object type, name length standards, and prefix and suffix standards.

The naming standards utility is used to apply the naming standards templates to a model or objects within a model. Enterprise data dictionaries and local data dictionaries support the naming standard templates.

You can apply naming standards templates to models, sub-models, entities and attributes for automatic application between logical and physical models, to ensure consistent naming conventions within your data architecture.
